UNDERFLOOR HEATING
Applications for insulating materials and/or under floor heating using de-vi cable
Using COMFOOT product will speed the operation of installation
COMFOOT recommends the use of various insulations: LECA, LYTAG and MICRAFIL
1. After sub floor has been installed apply a layer of the above insulation to a depth of 100mm, using eight part insulation, one part cement, use enough water just to bind. Adding 1/4 bag, 1/4 bottle per 16 parts insulation, 2 parts cement reduces curing time. If not under floor heating, then go to point 4.
2. Incorporate a further top before floor has set, of 50mm, using three parts insulation, 2 parts sharp sand, one part cement, to create a surface for cable/ties to be attached. Allow surface to dry, one to two days before fixing.
3. Fix Devi cable to floor. Then apply one part insulation, four parts sharp sand, one part cement to a depth of 50mm. Allow surface to harden five to six days before applying COMFOOT.
THE ADDITION OF COMFOOT WILL ALLOW THE DEPTH TO BE REDUCED TO 25mm.
The addition of COMFOOT to a mix, as above, will reduce time needed to cure. In normal circumstances the curing period is reduced to one day. Care needs to be taken when using the above. It is possible that the product will harden within 20 minutes (on very hot days), so mix only enough that can be used. Also wash mix if it starts to harden.
COMFOOT INCORPORATED
Standard mix used is one part insulation, four parts sharp sand, one parts cement and water times three (do not make the mix too wet enough for it to fall off the top of the cement mixer) add 1/4 bottle COMFOOT acrylic emulsion and 1/4 bag powder.
Cables can be applied to existing well insulated floors and a top screed 25-50mm applied using 1/4 COMFOOT acrylic emulsion 1/4 COMFOOT powder (kiln dried sand / Lytag or smooth aggregate
i.e.. pea gravel at 1:1 ratio). When cured further screed of 3mm of COMFOOT to make the finished floor.
4. Incorporate a further top before floor has set, of 25mm, using three parts insulation, two parts sand, one part cement, for preparation of COMFOOT screed. Next day apply COMFOOT screed to a depth of approx 3mm.
5. For filling depths over 3mm - 15mm. Prime the floor and leave to dry. Mix 1/2 COMFOOT acrylic emulsion and 1/2 bag COMFOOT powder in the 20 litre bucket, and fill remainder with dry sand/grit/aggregate stir until the product has blended. Cover floor to slightly less the finish required (3mm). Then if working in large area's mix the standard finish mix and pour over the filler layer before it has hardened. Finish the floor as required in the standard applications instructions.
